Hey guys, I know this is off color and if this is in the wrong section I apologize. But I am looking for one of my great grandfathers Farmall 1962 460 diesel serial number 25562 it was last seen December 1964 when he traded it off for a Case, David Brown 990 at the Case dealer in Winamac, Indiana. Would like to know if it is still out there working and maybe forsale to get it back into the family. I know it's a long shot but it's worth the try for me. Thanks!

Yep! I'd love to know where my great-grandpa's Jubilee is. Unfortunately we don't have a serial number, we just know he had a propane tank on the front and wrote the dates of all the oil changes under the hood.

Thanks guys, I was lucky enough to find a trade receipt with the serial number for this one. Still looking for the serial numbers for a Farmall C, another 460 diesel, Case 830, and a case 970.

I'm not asking to be rude as I also enjoy Case and farmall tractors. but I'm curious as to how you ended up an orange man when your grandfather appears to not have been. Sometimes it's a neat story so just curious.

No your fine, I get asked that all the time. My great grandfathers side was Case/IH my great grandmothers side was Deere. And they had a Deere here and there but his main equipment was Case/IH after they were married. If I had gotten into tractors earlier while my great grandfather was still alive I pry would favor IH. But he passed away about 5 years before I started collecting tractors. But what started me on AC is we started raising hogs and we needed a small tractor that had enough power to do some bush hogging. We were talking at church one day to a guy who's family used ACs and this older lady over heard us talking and she said her husband had a older tractor forsale so we followed her home that day and it ended up to be a 53 WD. It come with a 3btm plow and 3point blade and we paid a little much for it at the time because just about every seal leaked in the motor. But we bought it and it was the very first tractor I ever drove and my dad and grandfather resealed the whole motor and that was the very first motor I ever seen inside of and worked on So that tractor started it all. About a year after that at the age of 15 I took all the money I had saved at the time and bought a 52 CA, and about a year after buying that I tore it apart down to the last nut and restored it. And it just kept getting worse, it started with that one AC and with in 4 years I now have 8 ACs . Now with finding these tractors that my family has bought new and used to make a living every year I'm going to have to take a break on buying any more ACs just for now, but trust me if I find a good deal on any ACs I won't let it pass up. I really don't need anymore of any color tractors but they are like chips can't have just one. Every day I wish my great grandfather was here to see all of them because even tho he was a red guy he'd still enjoy them.

Good luck with your search Josh, I know only to well the significance of what you are doing, I had no serial number at all for my Grandfathers tractor but never gave up looking and asking around, someone, somewhere will know something, you just have to keep looking.

That's pretty cool Josh. The AC in me comes from having had a dealer on mom's side and her sister and brother-in-law were all A-C except for a 730D John Deere. First tractor I drove was a hand brake B, later on a D17 IV.

Was it a wide or narrow front? Funny, a family member just bought back a family tractor 460 diesel this summer. I think it was a 460... Came form over by Rochester. When it makes it back to the farm sometime, I'll have to try to remember to look at the serial #. I'm not sure if there was an International dealer in Rochester, or if it would've came Winamac. DO you know where the serial number on these are?

Not to rub it in, but I still have my grandfather's tractor. A Fordson Dexta. He sold a thoroughly worn-out gas 8N to get the diesel Dexta. Bought it used from an orange grove owner a couple hours away.I was very young then but I remember the unloading and my grandfather's excitement about having a diesel. He's been on the other side for some years now. The tractor is under a pole barn at my parents' house. Not running but under cover and awaiting restoration.

Chris, that Dexta is a great little tractor. One of my uncles had one and I drove it a lot raking hay while Dad ran the baler with his WD. Hope Irma doesn't give you much of a problem later this week.

Dave it was a narrow front with a freeman loader. The serial numbers are on the right side of clutch housing if I remember right.

This one is a narrow front, but I don't think it ever had a loader on it.
