I bought an AC-180 Last fall, and everything went fine til about half way through winter.

I was putting out hay for my cows, and i lost steering, the tractor would only go about half speed, and the lift arms went to the ground.

I am at a loss, any ideas?

take off the housing where the suction line to the hydraulic pump is attached. check the screen there to see if its plugged. 170 allis was plugged from all the foam and crap that water does to oil. Cleaned it up and it worked fine afterwards.
You might have a relief valve stuck open too.

Before we start tearing things apart, have you actually cheched the hydraulic oil level?????the dipstick is to the left of the gearshaft (when sitting in the seat)and threads into the housing.....

Could be the simple things, but if he was using it and raised the loader, and didn't move, setting the loader bck down should have supplied enough oil to start moving again...unless it got airlocked.

JC- ill give that a try, thank you, also, it was the kind of spear that mounts to the 3point hitch, not a loader. what does the term airlocked mean
DrAllis-Yes sir, we (my dad) checked the fluid level and it was good-but thank you, i ve seen plenty of times where people have needed some type of fluid and been like "why isnt it working"

If you lost the steering and Power Director clutch (front pump) AND the 3 pt lift (center pump) and it's full of oil, I'd be pulling the hyd pump and tearing it down. Air locked...No. When you remove the suction hose on the underside of the pump pay attention to whether the hose clamps are good and tight.

Wonder if the pump shaft is bad. got enough pressure to make it move half speed, must be only a few #'s off pressure being made.something is wrong. 170 had a screen in the bottom and it was sucked so hard hat it had ripped the screen loose from the edge. and was choked with crap of water oil turned to cream sludge that would not pass the screen.  Maybe the pressure reg valve is stuck open on pump?

Hydraulic dipstick is the left filler hole from the tranny dipstick, just in case you didn't know.

There is no pressure regulator on the pump itself.............take off the pump and mark everything and tear it down.
