In a 226 Z code, can you run a flat top piston. I've heard both yes and no. Don't want to do something to a tractor that can't be undone. Thanks

Yes you can.
Best bet would be to run 175 power crater pistons as these gave great performance

Z code engine is already 8.0 to 1 compression ratio. If you want more, flat tops will get you that if ( and only if) the piston pin is located correctly. Just because it's a flat top doesn't mean squat if the pin location is too high up. Any more than 8 to 1 will require higher octane fuel.
