I have a set of Titan tires I would like to put tubes in. I know tubes are different for radial or bias ply. They are Titan Hi-Traction Lug. They say 14.9-24 All Purpose R-1 on them, I did a little searching on the internet, found no definite answer.

Are they radials or bias ply?

Maybe its a dumb question, but I don't know too much about tires.

Thanks in advance.

Radials should have an "R" before the rim size.

At the Titan tire web page download their Ag Tire Handbook, it will have every known detail on the tire. R-1 I think are not radial.

R-1 is the tread design, it means it's an agricultural tread design. r-2 are rice and cane,R-3 s are turf tires and R -4 s are industrial tread. Radials would be 14.9R 24 or 380/85R24 and the tire will say radial on it. You can put radial tubes in bias ply tires but not the other way around. You didn't say what tractor your putting them on but I'd bet you have tube type rims also. You must have tubeless rims to run tubeless tires.

Marv. They are bias ply tires. Do yourself a big favor, spend the extra money and buy heavy duty radial tubes for your tires. They are made of a thicker rubber than standard duty bias ply tubes. I am telling you this because we gave up selling bias rear farm tubes around 2o years ago. There were just too many problems with them right out of the box.
