Dave....Yes were still here....got really really busy....you know that day job thing.  It's been 3 weeks since I went to the back of the ranch to use the 7G. I did haul a couple of dump truck loads of 15 foot logs and it worked very well. Really pleased with our decelerator fabrication. Went to adjust the brakes...and pulled off the cap that had the pressure adjusting shims instead...dropped some shims and know that side wouldn't work as well either. Did some research...and know what to do about it.
Extremely busy with day job...That being said, my wife and I are going on a 3 hour road trip (one way)to pick up a border collie pup to replace our 15 year old that passed unexpectedly yesterday... the one that is in most of my posts somewhere for the last 5 years.
I will get some 7G pictures up sometime though (maybe not till it rains in about Oct)

LOL, Mel you guys have some stories for the grandkids!!

Glad to hear to old monster is working out, the Brakes adjust under caps almost out to the fenders on these but I guess you found that. Mine has the later style bolt/nut type adjustment for those that I have backed all but completely off to keep from snapping another shoe.

Hello Mel. New to the forum. Not new to Construction Equipment. My first dozer purchase. An HD16DC. Serial numbers shows produced in 1961.

Can you tell me color I should paint her and a source of reproduction or new Decals. The original ones are on and you can see them faintly but would like to replace after paint.

Thank you.

Jerry, Welcome aboard... ACs were orange until early 60s...not exactly sure when they changed. Logging and construction started getting yellow and ag equipment stayed orange. There's lots of people on the forum that have pretty good paint info. All of the paint we use in our restoration projects come from a local supplier....in this case it's called competition orange  ...it's very expensive, but we're happy with the results.  Decals...logos.. are from a local sign guy...nowadays they can copy anything. We use the parts books of the correct serial numbers and can get the size out of the book for each lettering. Some of that is not that important probably...but for restoration work we try to stay close.

AC Mel

Meant to ask you another question. If I need to jump the batteries on my HD16, I want to be sure I hook up the cables correctly. Being its a 24volt system.

Can you jump one battery to your truck and will that work, or do you have to use a preferred method to be safe.

I can answer that as had to on my 7G a few times. DO NOT ALLOW the machines to touch, the Allis is Positive Ground unless had a alternator conversion where it may still be. You can jump truck to Tractor only just one battery at a time, I charge one for awhile then connect to the other to start the machine. Pos to Pos and Neg to Neg just as noted DO NOT CROSS the leads.

Great and thank you Mel. I was thinking that was the method but wanted to confirm.

My Kenworth was one way and my Oliver 1855 was a two battery situation and set up differently.

Thanks again.
