There is a local auction here rbauction.com at Vegreville with a Gleaner S78 on it.  Gleaners can sell quite reasonably here as the AGCO dealers around here promote the Massey (red or yellow) combine.  There are a number of the axial combine running around here.   Case in point was an S77 with 400  thrashing hrs that sold for 192000 Canadian loons.  Wish it was in my shed but I am an STO.  If anyone is in the market check this one out.

I recently got a letter back from AGCO saying they intend on keeping the Gleaner line permanently.  The problem in south central Illinois is that the closest AGCO dealer is at least 70 miles away.  Plus all the AGCO dealers I know are promoting only Massey.  Difficult to sell Gleaners when the dealers are gone & all AGCO does is promote Massey.

An AGCO gleaner dealer 70 miles from you, Dan? That must be Gene Kehrer, AGCO dealership in Albers, IL. He still sells new Gleaners, carries parts, & repairs them. Just saw his advertisement in Illinois Agri-News for them.

Closest Deere, NH, and CIH dealer are all 70 miles away and we manage. Massey is 30-35 away and Gleaner is 150 or so away. Don't grasp the concept of the dealer needed to be close especially for Indiana, Ohio, Illionios, Iowa guys.

Case-IH and Deere are right here in town.  Within 32 miles I have 5 more Case-IH dealers, 3 more Deere dealers, plus a New Holland dealer.  That's my point.  AGCO's competition is making it easy to buy their brands.

Yes, E.J. Kerher Equip. is in Albers & has a good reputation.  There's Suchomski in Pickneyville, Jensen in Carlyle, A.C. McCartney in Mt. Sterling, Kuhn's in Arthur & Gibson City,  Rolf's in Hartsburg & Greenview, & Fliginger in Trivoli.   The problem for me is that Albers is probably the closest dealer & that's at least 90 minutes away.  I'll have to get the Rand McNally map out plus maybe Mapquest & plot the fastest route to the closest dealer.  We lost our AGCO dealer in Jerseyville early this summer.
