I think I am OK on the mix numbers but the searching got me concerned/confused.  Three questions please.

Which parts are painted creame besides the grille and wheel centers?  Anything else?

I noticed that people referenced the cream as Cream(Beige) - trim color and just plain cream.  Is there much difference and where are the two applied?

Anything on the original tractors like black?  I see some starters and generators black but assume that they were probably orange originally?

Dave, check out the D-Series Photo Album on my website.  All of those photos came from original D-Series sales literature.  I find them useful for reference.

Regarding which items were black, things that come to mind are light shells, generator, muffler, and the portion of the air cleaner stack above the hood.  I use AGCO cream on the cream/beige items, including the steering wheel.

That being said, it doesn't take much to find conflicting color schemes, even in the same piece of literature.  Notice the black starter in the D10 III photos.  The D12 III in the plow photo shows an orange starter.  Personally, I am partial to black starters and generators, especially on the late D-Series tractors.  Best of luck.

Dave, drag your mouse pointer over the orange link on Brian's post and click your left button.  You should see an array of pictures Brian has scanned in.  HTH

Boy that was a no brainer - thanks Brian great reference pics

I promise not to be caught dumb in public again :)  It was purely a case of me not taking time to digest the post.

And wouldn't you know it, after messing around for a year I painted the gen and starter orange yesterday.  A throwback to the resto on the JD in that they were same color as the motor.  Well we will just see if anyone notices.

Dave, original starters and generators were orange because they were painted along with the rest of the tractor.  Peronally, I like doing those in black.  It shows that you put some effort into your work on a restored tractor.
