The left brake has no give and not much brake unless you really stand on it.... can't make the wheel slide.  Pedal goes down about an inch and stops DEAD.  The pedal moves freely, just no brake and it feels like  something is blocking it.    The right side works perfectly.

Where should I start looking?

I'd check the fluid level in the master cylinder, it takes hydraulic oil, then go on to the rear axle there's a bleader, have someone pump the pedal as if your bleeding brakes on a car to see if there's fluid getting that far, if not an O ring may have went bad inside the brake assembly it's self, there's also the panel under the steering wheel that you may need to unbolts and take a peek in there, there adjusters in there that are self locking, but could have come loose, I'd start with the bleader first

I have been under the steering wheel, had to free up seized brake assembly when I got the tractor.  Left brake never worked right.... but wouldn't air cause a spongy pedal rather than a hard pedal?  I will look into that though.... where is the bleeder on the rear axel?

Inside of the fender on the axle, like a nipple sticking up
