I know why we have two clutches and their uses but this is my question. Most everyone I know around here with a WD or WD45 always uses their hand clutch to start and stop during normal driving and only use the foot clutch when doing anyting with the PTO. So is this ok, is my question? Basically to never use the foot clutch? It works for me since my foot clutch is resting on the foot rest and I need to adjust it.. but is it the correct or best way to start and stop for normal driving,, ie parades or just moving round bales and such?

Its actually better to use the hand clutch. the hand clutch is a wet clutch, you can slip it during parades and not hurt it. Should use the foot clutch to change gears, at least thats what dad does on grandpa's old WD

At the factory schools in the 50's we were encouraged to use the foot clutch since it was a bigger clutch built to handle the horsepower of the tractor. That said we always pushed for the hand clutch for the very reasons said above. In my estimation it is an oil clutch and will work better under heavy usage .
