The gear shifter on my 37 WC is loose - lots of play in the lever, and there is a tendency to jump out of gear every once in a while.  I took it off the transmission hoping I'd see something obviously wrong with it, but there's nothing that looks broken in there.  If I were to take it completely apart, how much trouble am I getting in to?  What will be worn and need replacing?  Are the usual parts available?

Counting this time, I'll have done this once.  I'm a little nervous about tearing into it, but it's not right so I have to do something.  Is it easier just to replace the whole assembly?  Who has one, if that's the case?

Thanks in advance!

I've never done it myself, but I know a few guys that have.  I'm sure that at least one of them will be giving you some help.  All I know is that it IS a PITA but not rocket science...
I'll check back later and see if you've gotten the help you need.

in the process of tightening up my shift lever on my WF, WF- WC are the same.

Need to replace the pin on the side of the tower, and maybe redo the slotit slides in. I am thinking ( with a lot of luck  one could un attcah the spring cage  and washer with ot taking out  the ing rails.   am stalling on doing it .  want to devote time to do it with an extra hand or two as well.  Look at the  parts books for the parts and assembly drawing s.
