Hi,  I was on the forum last year looking for a sickle mower for my Allis C and also asking for info on problems I was having with my magneto. Someone recommended a place that sold conversion kits to go from magneto to coil. I'm still having problems and I think I'd like to convert it. It runs for awhile and then it either quits, or it won't start again if I shut it off once it's warmed up. I would be very grateful if someone could tell me where to buy the conversion kit. My tractor has already been converted to 12V. I don't know if that affects the conversion at all??

Most of the sponsors on this page can provide you with the poper part.
SteveNJ at Custom Circuits can easily take care of your mag problem.  Sounds like a coil or if lucky a condensor.
However, we converted a lot of units to a distribuitor ignition.  Especailly today with the higher voltage solid states systems.
Let us know how it goes.
Good Luck!

I second Mr. Long's recommendation to contact "Steve in NJ" at B&B Circuits. Steve is very knowledgeable and very willing to help. He can set you up with the right parts and tell you how to do it right.

Actually, http://www.bb-customcircuits.com/other-technical-info" rel="nofollow - I just found this link . Almost to the bottom of the page, there is info on what you are trying to do.

If you have questions, give Steve a call. I guarantee he will be helpful!

I have a distributor that will bolt up to the mag drive; you will need to acquire a 12V resistor coil to finish the job. Located in ZIP 55760.  $50 plus the ride. PM me with address if interested.

Or you can make your mag into a distributor

Is it hard to convert the Mag itself into a distributor? Interested to hear more about this.

Its not hard to convert a magneto to battery ignition. Requires taking out the coil, bringing out a high voltage wire from there the coil fed the rotor, and bringing out a wire from the points. Its not as good as using the distributor made for the engine because the magneto generally has no centrifugal advance mechanism that is important to getting good engine performance at various speeds.
