Not very familiar with the Allis lawn tractors. Local 716 for sale. Looks to be in pretty good shape. From pictures looks like Kohler engine? Not sure hp? Is this at the lower end of the Allis mower line? It has 42 inch deck and a 48 inch blade.
Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to evaluate this machine.
Do I really need another tractor NO! But doesnt hurt to get some info!:)
Regards,
 Chris

Good morning Chris!Smile
Yes, it's probably a Kohler @ 16 hp.
And it's a heavy dude!
I don't know about being at the lower end of the Allis line, but I've got a 712 S with the 12hp Kohler, along with a 914 H, (14hp), that's in process of getting running again.
I like them both just fine.
Look for an H or S after the 716. H = hydraulic drive and S = Shuttle.
I'd get it if it was possible.
You'll really enjoy mowing with it.
Or, just puttin' around on it.
My 712 has some "get up & go" to it!
There's just something about the "grunt" of those older Kohlers. Big smile

Hi Chris!

The 700 series Tractors as Jim mentioned are TOUGH!  I loved the 716H I had with the Dozer blade.  We used that for our snow pushin' Tractor. I had a set of big ATV tires out back for traction on that thing cause' I didn't want to mar up the driveway with chains. That old girl was one tough Tractor! And boy, did it push snow to! They are mowin' animals also.  As Jim mentioned, the last two digits is the HP of the machine.

Even the wife liked the 716H. Here she is pushin' snow in one of the 2014 snow storms we had. I had a Diesel Battery out back for wieght which operated the electric plow lift. Big ole' 16HP Kohler did the job!  My nephew has the machine now down in MD.

The 716 was on the higher end of the AC lawn and garden tractors. There was a 718 but they are rare. All of the 710 through 718 tractors were the same basic chassis design. The next larger is the 620/720 Power Max (compact tractors).

How rare are the 718 as I have one bought it in the early 80s???? dont remember just whe . It has the kohler engine and is a single cylinder with the overhead valve which makes it hard to find parts for. I still mowe my yard as I just got done . I have the tiller for it too and use that for my garden. The 700 series are a tough machine
