"Inside" wheel weights on the outside?

Ok, so after spending the afternoon wrestling those 300+ pound Rowe wheel weights on to my 8030 I discovered that they are just thick enough to prevent me from getting an impact socket on the nut for the inside u-bolt for my dual hubs unless I push the wheel centers in too far to be safe so I am back to the drawing board. I have a handful of the 400 pounders that I have always had mounted on the "inside". I don't have the right equipment to try to pull my rims and centers off to put those on the inside. Any theoretical reason why I couldn't mount one of those "inside" weights on the "outside" of my centers and pick up a couple of inches for my dual hubs?

As long as you can bolt them on, they don't interfere with anything, and most importantly, the surfaces around the bolt holes actually touch you should be just fine. If the weights don't fit up at the holes, but rather are supported say near the center, and you tighten them up too much, you can risk breaking your wheel center.
