Subject: WD Transmission - Slid Gear?

Had to pull the tower off of my Syncro tran WD as align pins dropped out into transmission. NathanSD did tell me had to be in 2nd gear to pull tower off, and that worked very well.  Rewelded and worked on shift lever ball again. Tower went back on quite well, had to jiggle a little, did not have to force at all, engaged clutch and used big screwdriver to shift back to neutral, put shift lever back in and started tractor.  STILL appears to be stuck in a gear.  Moves forward. No reverse.

Could I have slid a gear somehow when I put the tower back on that caused this problem?
All forks line up as if in neutral.

Please help!

Thanks.

Do you have a natural? Will it move forward in all four gears, or always moves forward when clutch is engaged no mater where gear shift is?    MACK

No neutral even tho gate is in neutral position.  Seems like able to shift into 1st, 4th, reverse, but all move forward.  When looking down into neutral gate thru shifter hole without shift lever installed, seems like gate is more toward rear of tractor, than centered as it seemed like it was before, but maybe I just never paid this close of attention to it before when I put screwdriver in to line up the forks, and reinstall lever.

With top off, slide all gears to their natural posies. Start tractor and let clutch out slow. If you have natural then, you are not getting all shifters lined.
If this is a WD with straight cut gears or later syncromash gears?

Late WD with syncro gears.

Make sure that the forks slide into the groove in each coupler.

Seemed like forks were right in line with the grooves when I lined the tower up before dropping it down, but think I will try to get it in 2nd gear again, and pull the tower off again.  I have never done anything like this before, so am kind of working blind, unfortunately.  I'm sure some of the members here could just look down at the gears and tell me what is wrong, but unfortunately, I can't.
