What is involved in replacing a wheel bearing on a WD 45 and a D17 with narrow front. Both tractors have front right tires that wobble terribly when going 4th gear on the road. Never touched the bearings before. What can I expect for costs and time into it?

Not much to them, just remove hub cap and you will see a cotter pin and nut to remove and the hub will come off. Not sure on cost of bearings.

Before you take it all apart,with the front jacked up off the ground, remove the cap and cotter pin and see if you can get the slop out of the wheel by snugging up the castle nut. If that seems to work ,I would pull the rim off and remove the hub to clean and inspect the bearings. You may be just fine by repacking the bearings and reassembling the hub. It might not hurt to replace the seal which should be available at your local bearing supplier.

Quick tip on a narrow front. After getting the hub cab loose run the opposite wheel up on a block to get the one you want to work on off the ground. It saves jacking up the whole front end. If the bearings are that loose they have probably been damaged, but by all means remove and inspect them before you purchase new bearings. Don't forget to replace the seals also.

Make sure the play is in the wheel bearings and not in the pedistal.
