The last couple weeks I've been working on repainting my Cub Cadet 2166. The color isn't an exact match but it's what was available at the time so I'm fine with it. I'm using Rust-O-Lium enamel farm equipment paint. Do I need to apply a clearcoat on top to prevent any damage or fading of the paint? I'm also in the process of putting a stripe on the hood and the model number if I can get it stenciled on. I'm using regular spray paint for this. Does it require a topcoat? I'm new to painting equipment so sorry for so many questions.
Thanks,
Brad

toss of a coin...
you could just hand rub 2-3 coats of wax, 'old school'...
or
spray on the clear coat, just be SURE it's compatible with your 'colour' coat. You can spray several coats on(READ about drying/respraying times !) and then 'block sand' with say 600-1000-1500. Don't get too aggresive sanding though or you'll break through  to the colour coat.

Rustolium is your basic old school enamel paint. Normally you don't put a clear coat over alkyln enamel.  You just paint it and be happy with it.  Fading can happen over time if left outside in the sun. Park under the awning or garage and it will be good for years.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Thanks for the help guys. I tried google for two days and never got a clear answer. I guess you know more than google. I was probably gonna wax it anyway so I'll just do that to finish it off. It does set inside all the time so it should last quite a while.
Thanks again,
Brad
