Did anyone but AC and JD build a cotton picker? Not in cotton country, just curious.   MACK

Oh yes, IH built them, Hesston had them, Oliver had them, Dearborn had a 3pt mounted one for Fords, a company called Rust had them (John Rust actually invented the successful mechanical cotton picker), and many more.
There were quite a few of them back in the day....now it's pretty much just Deere and IH.

farmall , IH, and Case/IH made them. deere had a ground driven picker made to be pulled behind mules. I think Case made them too.

Deere model 31. Made in the 30's, and they only made less than 300. They actually had 2, a model 30 and 31. The 30 wasn't galvanized, and the newer 31 was. Supposedly they were all delivered to Texas, but I know a guy who lives near my grandpa who has a 31, and there's another 31 not too far from that one. At any rate, they're very rare. Maybe not valuable, but very rare.
Here's a video, but like all things Deere, they seem to be having a hard time with it... Lol

I kinda wonder too! I think it just strips everything off and conveys it to the hopper.

Also, for all you guys who aren't in cotton country, here's a very good video about the harvest process. These are cotton strippers, not pickers.
