we bought 2 ac garden tractors when i was little (about 8 years ago lol) and we used one as a parts tractor for my b212 and the other one is a 912 hydro that has been sitting outside now for at least 5 years. i looked at it the other day and i decided to get it at least running  and driving and maybe even mow with it.   does anyone know where i should start

You'll probably need to start with cleaning fuel system out, carburetor, fuel tank, and maybe new lines and a filter. Make sure all the fluids look OK. Change the engine oil. You'll need a battery in it as these tractors had battery ignition and won't spark when just cranking with a jump pack attached.

ok thank you and to bleed the fuel system do you mean take the hoses off and drain them? I'm guessing so   and also could anything so wrong in the transmission after sitting in the dirt for many years? (I'm going to pull it out this weekend)

As long as there was fluid in the transmission and it didn't get water in it, I wouldn't think there would be a problem. Be careful not to tow it very far or it can run the pump dry and ruin it. There is a bypass latch on top the hydro pump that needs to be pushed down to be able to push the tractor.
