i had to put new weights in the gov on my wd- the old ones flew apart last summer
back together, times- sounds ok at idle
at fuller thot it sometimes kicks int he gov in and out- how do i stop this?

Clint, There is a small spring part no. 70203208 on the rod from the cross shaft to the carb that is supposed to control surging. If it is broken or unhooked it could be causing your problem.
If you have a parts book look at the governor breakdown to see where it is located.

It probably just needs the rod going to the carb to be adjusted correctly.

Most of these old tractors have lots of slop in the gov. linkage. The anti surge spring John is talking about is more critical with older tractors because of this. If you can manually grab the throttle shaft of the carb and hold it steady to stop the surging, you will need to either tighten up the slop or add the spring or both.

We have the spring listed on our website. We sell quite a few of them. Can really make a difference to stabalize the gov.
