My WD does not have the power it had. I flip it, lucky to be alive. Could it be timing?
I had to replace exhaust pipe and seals on the manifold, the Bendix spring in the starter, battery, I pull the carb and cleaned it. It idles fine but does not have the power a WD should have. I want to tell all I had a 16 ft. trailer loaded with soil and I was backing down on a pond dam, on and angle to fill a gully. I jack knife this load just a little and this load pull my tractor back, trailer hit in the gully and stop, tractor flip back over on top of the load of soil, I landed in the corner of the trailer where there was no soil. I was trapped for 2 hours before someone found me calling for help.

What did you do to flip it "with not the power that it had"? Was this before you flipped it, or after?

Unless it landed on the dist I'd be more inclined to think fuel.

WD power. I turn this WD over on a load of soil, I had a close call. I was backing a large load of soil down a pond dam when I misjudge the pull of the trailer, the trailer went in a gully and the WD flipped over on this trailer of soil. I had to replace the exhaust pipe, pull the exhaust manifold and replace seals, replaced starter Bendix, it was damaged. This tractor stayed idle for a year, I did pull the carb and cleaned it. Had to put a new battery on it. It does not have the power that it had. I cleaned the plugs and it idles ok but it just doesn't have the power this tractor should have. I do notice it has more smoke now but after it warms up it fades away. I was thinking could it be timing?

The rings may be sticking. There's a thread about that lurking in here somewhere. I think it was about two months ago.

How were you trapped? Was the tractor on top of you? YES, you are lucky to be alive!! Have you got any pics of the tractor after the accident?
Did it have the power it is supposed to have when pulling that wagon of dirt?
TOO many variables without knowing how it was running before the accident, especially since it had sat for a year.
Possibly gunk got knocked loose inside of carb and is plugging orifices. I'd start there first. Sounds like something is stopping it from getting enough gas.
Could be anything with the valve train, broken/stuck rings, the distributor e.g. cracked cap, points chipped or broken, weights inside broken and out of place. If the timing was off, I don't think it would start very well at all.

If the exhaust pipe got hit and you had to do the manifold gaskets did you crack check the manifold? If the top of the pipe got torqued it could have cracked down into the manifold which could cause a vacuum leak.

Yes, I was trapped for 2 hrs or more. I had some dirt work being done by a contractor. He was driving his dozen when this happen, he couldn't hear me until he stopped his dozer. He came to my rescue and had to get his backhoe and lifted this WD off of me. This WD got bent up a little, I put a chain through the front wheel post and pulled it back to the garage with a C . This WD had plenty of power before this accident. I got no pictures of this accident, wish I had.
I will pull the carb again and check fuel flow. Thanks for the help and advise.

Maybe it is only running 3 cylinders check plug wires , firing order 1-2-4-3

You may want to open up the main jet by one turn to see if that helps any. Fuel would also be my first guess too assuming the manifold is not cracked or warped so much that you are not getting a good seal. You can also spray carb cleaner or even WD40 around the manifold to see if the engine speeds up telling you there is a leak.

Check the air cleaner, if upset the oil ran up into the mesh, if it got any dirt sucked into that it could be plugged. Didn't have your issue but my WD got weak as years went by, tried alot of stuff, finally pulled air cleaner apart and washed outthe mesh, made a new tractor out of it.

So glad that your still with us. You were very lucky! The tractor can be fixed somehow.
I don't understand why the manifold had to be removed? was it broken?

When it flipped all the fluids in the engine went upside down too. Especially if it sat like that for a while, with any sort of damage, could be an excess of oil somewhere, coolant leaking into a cracked manifold area and getting in somewhere, carbon, or rust from cooling system getting in and blocking passages, the list goes on...Check the fuel lines and bowl also, make sure there isn't something that got bent and pinched off flow or cracked and leaking. Also, what was mentioned about the air cleaner is true, take your air cleaner hose off, if it restores power you need to clean that out for sure.

I think Bill is getting close. Especially if it was up to working temp. when it went upside down oil went up around the cylinders and this can take the tension out of the rings (anneal them) so they no longer fit tight enough against the cylinder walls. Run a compression check and see where you're at and if they're pretty consistently low you may have to consider new rings which won't break the bank. By the way, were you seriously hurt at all? Things can happen so quickly and we're all glad you came out alive.

By the way you said it smoked some. Does it smell gassy at all? If it does then I would suspect the air filter like others suggested. If not, then I would suspect the rings.
