| How much grouser do you have now? I would not go much over new height. Depending what size you have now could look for wider grousers as well. |

If you're in the dirt you can go as high as you want . As long as the clearance doesn't hit the fenders or anything else. You're limiting factor is how good of a welder you are and what type of new bar you put on the old pad . Single bar pad I would stay under 4 inches . | My grousers are around 20" wide 2" tall ,I have been a welder by trade for 25 years. I don't want to tear anything up,right now it does not grunt at all to spin the tracks. I have a Johnson tile plow it is a pretty good pull sometimes. Would it make much difference between taller grouser v/s wider pads. I have read the final drives can brake on these dozers???? |

Power to weight vs traction and overstress If you are not spinning the tracks now - then why longer grouser length . Only so much power can be applied before something gives - in many cases the limiting factor is traction - or in the case of my track machines - engine stall. | Coke, I believe he said he was doing some spinning, but I agree with you, lock her down to the ground too tight and something is going to give, and probably be parts hard to find. So I guess it would depend on how much spinning and the ground being worked if a person wanted to add to the grousers. Running the engine just a little off full power might keep breakage down. |

A young tile contractor that I know starting in his own business in the early 80's bought an A-C 21B to pull his tile plow. To everyone amazement, the first thing he did was cut it in half! He then added about 4-5' to the overall length to make the tracks longer. It was a weird looking rig with all that empty space between the cab and the engine. In the field he could plow in tile when no one else could. It was the forrunner of all modern tile plows. ------------- Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed |

When I had my dozers I use some ciment rods 1 inch for the pads. |

Thanks for every one's input mud is where I spin most but I realize that if I add to my grousers it will bit harder.I run at low rpm and try to stay under 1 mph but know I will throttle up if it gets hard to pull.This is also a farm dozer so it will have other tasks as well. I didn't know how robust the finals are I don't think I have ever ran it at full power |

| i have a bundle of ready made weld on grousers i bought many years ago for a D6d cat 24 inch pads i would sell. i also have a full set of tracks for same dozer with new pins and bushings but the rails need to be builtup. |

| enough to do a d6d cat with 24 inch pads. bought from cat. they are long sticks of grouser material that have to be cut to lenghth and welded on. they already have the bevel on both sides. oklahoma |
