Yes I couldn't think of a better Christmas present than to have Allis Chalmers come back. But I believe we'll all have to be really extra nice for Santa to grant that wish. I'm afraid I can't be that nice.

Heck, I'd be happy just to see AGCO bring back orange tractors!

Hello Bruce !!!    I guess I'm  one of the lucky ones on this site, Knowing Jerry who has taken our family under his wing.   In 2003 when our Club was in the planning stages of the 2005 GOTO we had tours of most of the remaining buildings and what they did there.  Over the years we have had many visits to the plant.     For several years we have hauled up to 6 tractors for the west Allis  Christmas Parade.  this year Jerry said that He had enough tractors of his own, but still needed drivers to pull the City Floats and Santa and Mrs Claus,  Even my 13 yr old granddaughter pulled a float.
The Convention Center where President Elect Trump gave his THANK YOU SPEECH  is the Wisconsin State Fair Grounds where a lot of parades start .
One final thing,   Our Union Grove will host the 2019 GOTO.    Looking forward to seeing Old FRIENDS and making a LOT OF NEW FRIENDS     Allen Dilg

With my father I was pleased to visit the West Allis Complex twice.
It was a wonderful tour.  Saw them make engine blocks, assemble WD's, went through various casting and forging plants.  However, the finest view I remember was walking the catwalk on the erection building.  That was where the turbines, both steam and water were assembled, and other large machines.
It was followed by a lunch.  Outstanding trip.
I attended the Parade of Allis Chalmers Tractors as part of the Coming Home GOTO in 2005.  In fact, I had my picture taken at the sign commemorating the importance of Allis Chalmers to the West Allis Area.  Even wrote a letter - with pictures - which Nan posted in Fall 2005 "Old Allis News"
I believe the tractors drove through the buildings where they were assembled.
Steve and I watched the parade from a Bar overlooking the parade route.
Great times.  Wonderful site.
Good Luck!

Howdy Bill,
Wonderful story! One question. What was the name of that Bar?

Kurzy,  I understand that the bar - restaurant is now closed.
Had a great night though.  There were some Allis Chalmers executives who came in to see the parade.  I introduced myself and we all had an even better time.
Alan,  You and your group put on an Outstanding Show in 2005.  I would LOVE to return.  However, time has taken its toll and I do not do trips like that any more.
Have a Great Show.  Regards to all.
Good Luck!
Bill Long

ps:  You know I took a picture of just about everyone there but did not get a picture of me with you Alan.

AGCO is run by a bunch of Europeans and unfortunately the Euros don't understand brand loyalties in the US which is why the Deutz-Allis merger was such an unmitigated disaster. If they were smart they would merge all of their product lines into one and call them all AGCO tractors and use the Triangular AGCO logo on the grill and steering wheel cap, and offer several color options like, AC Persian orange, Massey Ferguson red, Valtra blue, Fendt Green, White Farm Equipment silver, Oliver Green, and CAT Yellow.

When you buy a new pickup truck you get to choose the paint color you want so why not on a $150K tractor or a $300K combine?

Oh by the way Herr Richenhagen if you happen read this I have a BS degree in Marketing and Advertising and would be happy to run your North American marketing dept.

You got it farmboy!!! Why can an overpaid CEO not figure that out??? They could also offer the lawn stuff in orange. A lot of people that have a couple acres of grass but not enough room for a bunch of big stuff would buy one - like me...
