I am restoring a CA and was wondering what the correct color is for the rear rims and what brand does everyone use.     Thanks

The original CA's came through with galvanized rear rims.  The inside wheels were orange. Allis Chalmers was very "generous" with orange paint since most the the CA's came through with the starters and in some cases the generators painted too.

Good Luck!

When it comes to the persistent argument of "what part was painted what color", Bill's word is good as Gospel, because he was THERE!! Thanks for all your knowledge, Bill! We all appreciate you!

I use "FORD ARGENT" for wheel rims.

YOU BET they were "generous" Bill.... I remember Grampy had 6-55 gallon barrels of PO1 down at the cottage to use on anything.  I was TOO young at the time to know any better....Ouch Confused  He got it from Allis here in La Crosse and used it to paint EVERYTHING....Cry  He'd mix it with any other paint he could get a hold of to change the color.  IF I'd ONLY KNOWN!!..Cry
