I just wanted to sure how I paint my rims without having to touch up the paint.

1st I clean and prime the rim and let dry.
2nd I mount the tire and install the tube.

3rd I use a 16" coulter and trace it on two pieces of cardboard. The center of the coulter must be offset on to the cardboard so you can overlap later.

4th I cut the cardboard on the traced line.

5th I slide the cardboard between the rim and the tire. Make sure that the valve stem is in the tire not in the pulled though the rim. Best to do the back side of the rim first.

6th Paint rim

7th Pull out the cardboard. flip the tire and rim over and lay the tire on two blocks so that the rim does not touch the floor. Repeat step 5 and 6.  Pull out cardboard.

Excellent idea.  I could have used that trick a couple days ago!  Now I'm having to touch up scratches.  Thank you.
