Gents, I have an Allis 616 which is in need of a throttle control.  The ones I can find are for the 620 (2176647SM).  My assumption is these part are interchangeable for the 616, 620 & 720, but we all know about assumptions.  Can any one confirm that this throttle control will work on my 616?

Much Appreciation,

Ken

the good simplicity sites have been moved or retired. I used them alot several years ago but I have not been able to find them anymore. Jack's small engines can answer your question, they carry AC and Simplicity parts. I would say it would fit but it's better to make sure. They were practically the same except the added hp. Engine configuration was the same.

I called Sandy Lake and they said that the Throttle Cable is different between the 616 and the 620/720.  I was able to get a used cable, but I am still in the market for a new one.  Thanks for the help, I always willing to listen to what you folks have to say.

616 has down draft carb, 620 and 720 are side draft.

Is the throttle handle the same?

I was wondering myself, what the heck could be different about the cable assy's themselves. I've seen pics of the three different models and it looks to me that the control handles look the same. So even if the Carburetor was a down draft vs a side draft as Brad mentioned, I find it hard to believe that just the cable itself couldn't be replaced. I'm scratchin' the bald spot on my head wit' that one....?

cable housing measurement ?

I measured the cable length, it's about 51 inches.  I wouldn't think the cable length would be a big problem so I'm inclined to think the throttle assembly is different.  Also, the way the cable attaches to the assembly may be different.

Jacks small engines is also another great source. Just ordered a hard to find tach cable for a AC5015 my brother in law is selling. Has a factory belly mower on it.

I have a question, is the cable broken or seized? The outer jacket is what is important here. If is seized, soak it in a parts washer for a few days. Dry it by compressed air which will force lots of grime out of it. Spray Kroil or PB blaster the entire length of the cable. May have to soak a day or so. It should free the inner cable. If the inner cable is broken, go to a lawn dealer and get a cable longer than you need. Snip crooked end attaching to engine side and pull the inner cable out and place that in the old inner jacket. Bend new crook to match old cable and length. I have used both methods to repair mine on different machines. Hope this helps.

AC720Man, my cable is broken so your suggestion is so simple it's brilliant.  I had a binding problem with my choke cable and soaked it in WD40, then worked it back and forth till it slide nice and easy, but didn't connect the dots on the throttle cable.  Thanks for the help.
