does anyone know what kind of steel is in the support assy. for the fenders on a b allis .I tried to drill a hole in it and my bits won,t touch it and they are good quality bits.

I have not drilled many holes in them but the two holes I remember drilling I used a standard high speed steel bit.  Like any tougher steel the bit needs to turn slower than a regular 3/8 drill.  I used a slower rpm 5/8 drill.

tried that it must be a high carbon steel not a mild steel do you think it would help to anele it
