My LM315 has pretty much bit the dust, would like to find a 320 to put on it, but the only head I've been able to find in the greater central ohio is another 15 foot head, but I'm pretty sure it's a series 2. Few questions, will I have to change anything for my auto header hight? Isn't a series 2 just a Hart-Carter flex cutterbar? How much more will I be disappointed in stepping down? I pretty much just need a head to do another 190 acres of beans, then I'll hunt for a replacement this winter. Only have about 20 acres with hills to worry about

As far as I know a Series 2 isn't a flex head at all but a floating head. A floating head was good for it's day but a flex won't shatter as many beans. IMO I think you'd be disappointed going back to a floating head.

That's what I was afraid of. Found a 15 ft series 2 close, and possibly a 20 ft series 2, but I'd have to go to at least 4 hours to see a series 3 on a dealer lot

The series 2 head uses a Hart-Carter flex bar. The head was not designed to be a flex and consequently not very good in that role. The H-C flex bar cannot get as close to the ground as the later models. The Series 3 on the other hand was designed as a flex head and works much better at getting beans into the combine.
