So how do you restore a ford and not know that it isn't a farmall?
When ever I see one of these posting where they can't even get the manufacturer of the tractor correct it makes me seriously question the quality of the restoration.   They did make it look pretty for a ford though.

Yeah, it is a nice looking tractor. Got to wonder if they think Farmall means tractor as some people think John Deere stands for tractor?

Oh geez....Farmall??? Maybe they mean with a Ford you can "Farm All!" You know...farm anything. Right Shameless?? Wink

It does look nice. It's even the right shade of gray and red!
The rear lamp is wrong and it doesn't have the factory "Hat box" rear rims, but other than that, it looks pretty nice! It's got the factory style front tires with the single rib.

I figured they where trying to attract a higher class of customer or they really don't know squat about tractors either way it makes me think that is one of them paint can restorations.

You know, the guy did a nice job of restoring the little Ford as far as we know. So why disparage the guy for a computer error but think of the time and effort put into the tractor. I apologize if I angered anyone, that absolutely wasn't my intent, but to think of the man and his work. If my memory serves me correctly this was the first little tractor that started the whole restoration business. I'm probably wrong, most of the time I am but I like the little tractor. Wouldn't have one myself, but they have their uses, just like Shameless. LOL

Leon the reason I picked on it is because I have seen alot of fords here that people clean up really nice paint add a decal set and sell as completely restored. I bought one not for what the owner had been asking that fit that bill. The guy did a great job making it look good. But he never fixed the transmission issues and yet was trying to sell it as completely restored. I don't know why but it seems to be a ford thing here in this area. I talked to someone abiut an 800 serries he claimed he had rebuilt the motor on. After asking more questions I found out he hadn't even as much as pulled the valve cover off. What he had done was a tune up and rewired an old tractor painted it and claimed he had rebuild the motor and restored it. When I pushed back on the motor job he said will I did restore the motor it didn't run when I got it and now it does. Do that left me over sensitive to the topic of restored fords and there are other friends of mine who like fords and they tell me yup you always have to watch out for the freshly painted fords around here. Sad but there are alot of them here. I assume the guys trying to take advantage of people pick fords because there are alot of fords out there. Oh and the Ford with the bad transmission I bought and ended up selling it came from a shop just about as nice as that one close to a lake a very expensive home.

I have a 50 that would probably look like that in pictures.

In addition it has a Knoedeler seat, high/low Sherman, and cyclone air cleaner.

In my opinion, the N's had their place in the world.

Hmmmmmm, wonder where he got that big pan setting under it.  I need one of those to replace the kitty litter.  Big smile

nice looking ride.

I have a Knoedler seat, but it needs restored. It's really rough and the shock absorber doesn't work. I have a cyclone pre-cleaner too, and I really think all tractors need one. They catch a lot of dirt!!
Still looking for a good condition Sherman high/low.

Judging from the price he is proud of it and he probably has that much invested in it. He may have had someone else do the restoration or it could be just a fresh paint job. Either way I would not pay that much for an 8N.

I'm guessing (hoping) it was a computer error. They literally took the time to hand paint the "Ford" lettering in three places on the tractor then call it a Farmall?

Creston, I bought mine when it wasn't running/stuck.

Twas the day two fools/unawares met.  When i got to looking at it in the barn, i wondered what that funny looking shift lever was on the left side.  i really fell into it.

Creston M, those are the right rear wheel centers for an 8N. The hat box centers were 9N and 2N.

With the hand painted Ford script on the fenders and the hood and the price and lack of knowledge, I'd bet it was inherited or something like that.

Nope. Hat Box rims and round wheel centers are original to the 8N, as well as the Jubilee. Only when Ford introduced the hundred series did they switch to scalloped centers and loop rims.

2 possible causes.  Someone who knows nothing about tractors, but knows how to post on CL posted it.  Second is more common, drunk posting...

One thing's certainly right about the N-series... they hardly ever broke...

...because they weren't powerful 'nuff to do any work.

a claimed to be restored 8N just sold at a near-by auction last Sunday, brought $1300. it looked good for an 8N. prolly the best part of it was it had all new tires.
