On my 175D, The #1 Injector has a leak around it. By the paint loss on the engine, looks like it's been leaking for many a year.

I've been slowly fixing as many leaks as I can on the engine, and this the last one I'm gonna tackle before buttonin' 'er up and putting the hood and sheet metal back on.

I noticed the little round gasket around the injector, what Agco is calling a "shield", #70251285, worked its way partly out of the hole so I pushed it back down in and it seemed to slow the leak some but not stop it.....

So, is it just a matter of replacing this "shield" or would I need to replace something else as well to ensure the leak gets stopped?

And when I remove and reinstall the injector, is there anything I need to be aware of/ look out for?

Thanks for any help:

Sounds like the body of the injector is leaking. Sounds like you need to take the injector to a shop to get it serviced
The boot around the injector is just a dirt/water/dust seal.

are you sure it is diesel.  It is almost impossible for the injector to leak and still run well.
The top return can seep and run down the inj. The valve cover can leak and oil will run down the hole an back out the lower side.  3000 psi usually doesn't 'seep' long before it pours.

It runs perfectly, like a top, bought it from the original owner 3 yrs. ago.  the leak is more of a slight seep, and sometimes just a sweat........since I have no plans of painting over the original paint anytime soon, maybe I will let it go and put the hood back on.......
The only other simple thing I think it would be is the parts book lists a simple washer, a "seating" washer that's the first thing down in the hole, right around the injector nozzle/tip......but if the experts think there'd be more to it than that, I'm just going to leave well enough alone for now.

the seating washer would let blowby out and you would be way down on compression on that cylinder.
Has to be leaking on the injector body or one of the tube connections
