Morning all,
Looks like the back work worked, only pain I now enjoy is around the muscle mass they dissected to get to the problem and that diminishes daily just tires easily.  I am walking, A LOT trying to get back to some level of speed, Doc wants me built up at 1.5 to 2 miles daily until fully healed up where right now I am at around .4 mile per day(driveway round trip).  Easy enough to get in or off bed or in/out of hard frame chair, still look at couch like it's the Devil as afraid if get on it won't be able to get out of it!

No pain pills since surgery, at all.  Never made better than 6 out of 10 pain level even on that day where progressively lessens each day.  I do realize I will never be pain free but this is darned close!!

Now to get healed up as I have a 7G to overhaul the running gear on! and a 180D that needs a engine overhaul!

Thanks for all the kind words, thoughts and especially the prayers, the Good Lord does help when asked by those closest to him, Thanks all.

Dave

Good news Dave. The doctor is correct in getting your walking up to 2 miles per day. After my surgery, at about 6 weeks out I went to see the doc for a scheduled follow up. I asked him about rehab. He said, are you walking 2 miles a day as you've told me? Yes I replied. Then what the devil do you think rehab could help. His next statement was, Don't exceed 2 miles a day. I don't want to replace your knees next year.

It would be nice if we were able to be more active and get more done as we get older.
Hang in there.

Thanks all, and I am only pushing until I tire then back off a tad.  Am currently up to over a mile/day and feel GREAT!

Mike, give me a call before the show, I will make attempt to be at or near to the house for you!

Well until yesterday was all roses and buttercups, UNTIL I was readying to go in and have the stitches cut, a sharp pain just aside the stitches got madder and madder as I moved, then tried to go do my 2 mile walk and POW!!  muscle spasm.  Been fighting with that most of last night, surgeon noted they had to cut into a lot of meat to get to the problem areas so will be some knitting occurring on nerves and muscle which in my case will mean random events as this for a couple of weeks.  Wowsie Wowise WOOWOO !!

I can handle it just did not expect it so Doc put me on Celebrex and Flexoril for a few weeks, major anti inflammatory and slobbering inducing muscle relaxant.  At least they are only as needed.  Stitches looked fine, his note was my walking and diet control is paying off with my weight off 50# and my being in need for smaller waisted trousers!!

I guess you could consider it two steps forward, one step back.  Keep up the healing!

Been doing better, trying to stay off the relaxants as they kick my butt so just behaving.  Have quite a few exercises for lower back stretches, hamstrings and so on so working on those.  Need to be back to at least 90% to get back to work.  All too many feel great and get right back into work, seen most of them come back at three to five weeks and screw up all they had fixed, I do not want to go there!!   I would love to retire not just yet and not where I am functionally useless.

I don't know how old you are D but the closer you are to retirement age the easier it is to get SS disability. You'll get full SS benefits from then on. The disability part will drop off and then you start getting your full SS check.
