Need a key for B12 if you have one lying around. Local stealers want a fortune for one. TIA

May take a bit of time, but you may want to take the ignition switch out, and take to local locksmith.  They can cut a key to fit quite easily.  Was fairly reasonable.

I had to do that with my B-112.  I believe a lot of these older tractors still had a regular ignition key, not the Indak that many garden tractors, and full size tractors went to.

Maybe you could make some copies and sell them then. I know I could use 1 for my B110. Key is broken off inside the switch but still works using my thumbnail to turn off/on. Decided not to mess with it unless I found another switch or at least another key before I try to dig the broken piece out.

you can buy B&S keys( aka Indak) from any small engine shop or online in qtys of 1, 10 or 50....I have a drawer full of them from 'dead riders'.Now IF it's 'special', please post a picture  or link.....but all B&S keys/Indak are the same as far as I know.

Push button start tractors used a cut B&S key, which would fit early B-110, and all of the round hoods. Anything newer than that would use the indak key.

Years ago, Briggs and Stratton was in the business of supplying the automotive industry with "lock and cylinders." There are all kinds of B&S key's out there for antique vehicles. Dad's 1976 boat has a B&S key very similar to the one on my AC Homesteader 8 and early B-Series.
