We have finally got the 1965 snap coupler 190 running. I ended up sending it to a local mechanic to have him install the injection pump and injectors and see if it would run. It does run pretty good when it gets warmed up, but until then it smokes a lot and doesn't idle the greatest. It is also very very hard to start when its it cold (engine cold start, not temperature wise as it was about 65-70 out when he was showing me). It just acts like it is a little low on compression. We are going to put it on the dyno and run it for a couple of hours to see if we can get the engine loosened up from sitting so long (10 years). He made the comment that the rings may be stuck from sitting. It also seems to leak from every seal it has. PTO seal, front and rear engine seals, hydraulic lines, hydraulic valve stack. Oh well just more to tidy up a little down the road.

Adam - dump a can of SeaFoam in the oil before you do that. Works good to help free sticky rings. Sure helped my Gleaner EIII engine. Mike

Sounds like my 190 when I bought it, I remember telling one guy once that I have got 25 hours on it and 25 new oil leaks. They make for a great project tractor, not many straight 190 deisel snap coupler tractors out there.

Just wondering what the serial number is on this 190. My Dads first new tractor was a 190 snap coupler and have never been able to find it. He swears it is the best tractor he ever owned.

I would like to have a 190 xt. Seems overkill for my three acre farm though! A man can dream...

Projects are fun. They keep me sane.
