Things you finally notice.
My previous track experience was a well worn TD 6 and I didn't notice this.
Took our FA 10 for a lap cleaning up some old fence lines for replacement and cleaning out some pretty large (like two foot six diameter eucalyyps - helped by a bit of rain).
And will still describe it as a very competent dozer.
I now notice that it only uses every second tooth on the sprockets.
How do you balance that in track wear?

It is called "hunting tooth" The sprocket or gear has an odd number of teeth. The chain link spans 2 teeth. Every other tooth engages the chain on one revolution and the teeth that did not engage in the first revolution do engage in the next revolution. The purpose is to make the sprocket last longer.

Sprockets are 28 teeth and the wear marks say it isn't using every second tooth

Hunting tooth - somehow it is suppose to balance out to the track and sprocket wear pattern - OR if not - all you need to do is run the track so loose it jumps one cog - and hope something doesn't break in the process or track doesn't fall off .

It is all new running gear with about 2000 hours on it and the 5 link measurement is showing negligible wear as yet.
With my age and our useage it won't be me who has that worry

Ian - Now you sound like me when someone says I should by a New Motorcycle - tell them my 68 and 75 Nortons still run and I will worry about it later as they will still be running even if I am not . Same with my HD5G
