I am a hold-out also.  Like anything else, in moderation I suppose it is just fine, however, I choose to keep my mundane life to myself.
The news shocased some guy that posted on facebook and was utterly shocked when he returned from a 2 week announced trip to the Bahama's and his place was totally wiped out except the light bulbs.  GO FIGURE!!!

It's a way to connect with people from like high school, collage or even work.  When you fill out the information on where and when you went to high school, ect.  It will connect you with those people who also listed the same thing.  It will bring up a list of others on FB that match and you can send a friend request.  They will get an e-mail asking if they know you or not.  If they say "yes" then they are listed as your friend on FB.

Security can be set up many ways from to very restrictive to anyone can see what you post.  Most of the time you set it so that only your friends can see what you post.

Many people play the games and there are lots of them.  I don't as it wastes too much time.  The games and applications from FB will also pull your profile information.  That is another reason to not play or use the applications they have.  Security risk for sure.

Bottom line is that for most people FB ranks right up there as a large waste of time.  I have one school chum that posts what he is doing about evey 30 minutes all day long.  GET A LIFE!

I use it as advertising during the market season. Also to keep friends updated about projects I am working on. Or general time wasting while I am waiting on the ole lady or kids.

I have used if for past several months as have a few other members of this board who I know about, couple from down under and here in MN as well as some who havew kind of stopped posting here as the ability on facebook to block out the ones you do not want on your site or page.
Started with 2 people from high school and now around 25 and looking for few more for 50th class reunion.
Also for family search as had 20 or so relatves that also use it but now contacted 20 or more in Germany with same last name and now keep contact with them.

I am on Facebook but don't use it for much. My sister used it lately to keep family and friends informed of BIL's progress. It is handy for things like that. My daughter plays the farm game for something to do but I have the opinion that all their games are a waste of time except to collect info for facebook advertisers

Far too many people, with too much time, and too little to do.
Besides that, why do you want to get in touch with people from your past, there's a reason why you lost touch in the first place!

Well Joe there is alot of reasons I use it to keep in touch with people from the past. Some of my friends moved away others went into the military and I was on the road trucking for weeks at a time. We lost contact and now am very thankful for finding them again!!! When I graduated high school we didn't have cell phones to keep in contact and up to the minute. When 2 of my friends went into the military that was the last I had contact with them. We have now reconected through facebook and am really surprised where one of them landed up!

I've been on Facebook for over three years now.  When I started it was just me and a bunch of high school kids, over the years alot of my old friends have joined.  I think it's great and a good way to be in touch with them without making any real effort to be in touch with them.  All you have to do is update your page once and a while and you all know what is going on with each other.

I got on facebook to keep up with my kids when they went off to college. I have brothers and sisters and their kids all over the country keeping in touch. Instead of taking picture, getting them developed and mailing the to everyone, now they take a picture, put it on facebook and evryone can see it. There is the problem of people from the past finding you. I feel bad hitting the ignore button but if they want me to remember them from 30 years ago they should post a picture from 30 years ago.

I reluctly became a face book user, but have found it to be great way to keep in touch with family. Have a son in the Navy (San Diego) and a son in the Marine Corps (Okinawa). They are not much for sending communications in the traditional manner, but are facebook users, lets me know how they are doing. Keep it pretty much restricted to the family and a couple friends - have become a convert.

Type "Allis" into the search bar and it should pop up as a suggestion. One is the "real' group and one is one that was automatically imported from Wikipedia. For some reason everything with a full wikipedia article recently got connected witih FB. Here's the "real" group:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/ALLIS-CHALMERS/41056536450?ref=ts - http://www.facebook.com/pages/ALLIS-CHALMERS/41056536450?ref=ts
