I've got a set of 16.9x28s on my S1 D17.  They are really really shot.  Weather checked and worn out.  I can't believe they still hold air.  I leave the chains on year round or I would get stuck on wet grass.  I've been looking for a used set of tires, I don't use the tractor to make a living, it's just for snow and dinging around the ranch.  Discing deer plots, plowing, brush hogging.  Okay, maybe I do use a fair bit.
Anyway, my neighbor has a set of brand new 13?x28 tires he no longer needs.  I might be able to get them fairly cheep - will I be disappointed?  I think 13x28s came on the D17 from the factory, didn't they?  Will they work okay or should I hold out for a used set of 16.9.
Looking for opinions.
Thanks and cheers,
Creek

They are 13.6's?  Does he have them with a set of rims, or just the tires?   13.6 are alot narrower and shorter in profile then the 16.9.  I don't have a 16.9 here to measure the distance, but I guess they stand 3-4 inches shorter then the tires you got.  I couldn't believe how much it was between the 16.9 and the 14.9 on my 45 diesel.  I don't know if you're gonna be dissapointed with them; just pointing out some of the differences.  I know it's hard to find good used 16.9's as the set on my D17 were shot and I ended up finding a set of 18.4 to put on there.  I went the other way and it kind of makes it look mean!

yah that's the other thing I'm worried about - might make it look too puny!  I like the looks of the big front tires and big back tires like you see on some of the D21s - I'm afraid the 13.6s will look like lawn mower tires.......but if I can get them for cheep.....I dunno.  It's just tires, not rims.  I think he bought them for a Fancy Ferguson but never put them on, sold the tractor.
I'll have to think about it some more.
cheers,
Creek

Just my opinion but I would hold out for some 16.9's or find a set of 18.4's as Chuck stated. I think you are correct in saying that it would look too puny.  Good luck!

Hey Creek, I should have shown you my 16.9's when you were here. Probably just what you need.

Sure enjoyed visiting you yesterday.  Dang nice place you have there.  And quite a collection.  You have an extra set of 16.9s?
Cheers,
Creek

I have used 14.9x28's and I think they look OK. Sure the 16.9's are nicer, but a lot more pricey.
