I did the gas to diesel for a D17D. The blocks are the same gas or diesel.

That's exactly what I did for my D17D when I overhauled it. I have gas 262 block in my Series 1 with the water pump on the head. I made a nice block off plate for the block mounted water pump and had all of the machine work done correctly. The nice part of this is if I ever need a cylinder head, I can use either style.

Think his big deal is he made an adapter to move the oil filter so didn't have to notch the frame rail.
