Years ago I had a friend who's grandfather had a D15D and I remember him talking about the D15 having issues. Getting old myself and need a memory booster. What were the known problems for that tractor and engine. I found one for sale a few miles away and wanting to know what I might be in for. Owned a D17D and never had any trouble with the 262 or transmission. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Dad bought a LPG D15 when I was about 4, rebuilt it with a high compression/overbore kit and it was the prime tractor for the farm, got sold after I moved off. Only issues were third gear in the tranny and it took a good battery to start in the winter. I have a D15II LPG, have rebuilt the hydraulics and could use a hand clutch rebuild but it get done what I need.

The 175 cubic inch engine is the 4 cylinder version of the 262, so its problems can also apply to yours. Proper warm up before work and cool down after work is very important. Transmission jumping out of gear is common if it was abused. If it wasn't forced or ground into gear, no problems arose.
Prices on D15 diesels tend to be quite high since there were not many made. I wouldn't mind having one, but can't see paying the prices that some of them bring.
