Hi all,
I'm working on an old Bale Chief 302/303 small square baler. The plunger arm bearing went out. Its a spherical bearing with a locking collar and is marked RA108PPB2. But, I can't seem to find one anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Much appreciated!

The dimensions are on the top right of this webpage in the grey box. I just can't find a vendor (in the US). http://www.bearing-web.com/en/bearing-RA108PPB2-MACDON-112281.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.bearing-web.com/en/bearing-RA108PPB2-MACDON-112281.html
Again, many thanks!!

Looks like a Fafnir no. It will be a 108 with seals on both sides .When you lock collar make sure you lock in direction of rotation.

I always type any bearing # in Ebay and almost always get it fast and cheap. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SA208-24-1-1-2-Bore-Spherical-Insert-Bearing-w-Locking-Collar-JD9202-RA108PPB-/301888969603?hash=item4649fc1b83:g:mpIAAOSwr7ZW2f~l

What is the shaft diameter? I have an old bearing reference that does not have a ra108ppb2. It does show a ra103ppb-2 with a spherical od. The b-2 signifies a special bore.

Here are some pics. I took some dimensions and this is what I found: ID 36.15mm and 1.423" OD 79.98mm and 3.148" bearing thickness (not including locking shoulder) 22.2mm and .874" bearing thickness with shoulder 30.25mm and 1.19"
I also found another place where the bearing number was stamped and it is definitely a FAFNIR bearing and the number is definitely RA108PPB2

wbecker, I think you might have the bearing!! I'll see if I can put my hands on one, but I think this is the right bearing. I'll followup so future users can use this thread as a reference. But, if anyone has any other suggestions, let me know. Thanks all!!

Would be nice to know the AGCO part number, isn't it shown in the AGCO online parts book?

Like I said, just type in the old bearing # in the search box on eBay and it will be there and it will almost always be cheaper than anyone else, and usually arrives in about 3 days.

AGCO part #70540897. Part has been discontinued by AGCO.
Try calling Motion Industries as they deal with a lot of bearings.

Nickia, I'd greatly appreciate it. None of the above bearings will work and no bearing shops can even find my bearing number in their books or computer. Many thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, this is the wrong bearing. It has a 1.5" ID. I need a 1 7/16" ID. Thanks though.

Are you sure there's not a 1-7/16 to 1-1/2 sleeve in the bearing. My bearing reference, Baum Hydraulics http://www.baumhydraulics.com" rel="nofollow - http://www.baumhydraulics.com catalog section Q which you can download from that site shows the RA108RRB has the 80mm OD but 1-1/2" ID. The bearings in that family with 1-7/16" bore are RA107RRB and their OD is 72mm. It could very well be that the RA108RRB2 is a special for Allis and not a stock bearing anymore. The thicknesses of the bearings in the Baum catalog don't match your dimensions either, but go look to see what is close. Same thing in the Shoup spring 2013 catalog. http://www.shoupparts.com" rel="nofollow - http://www.shoupparts.com

If you can not find the bearing you may need to think out side of the box a little. You may need the have all the mating parts machined to take a standard bearing. May be pricey but still cheaper then buying a different baler.

Look for fafnir #muob 1 7/16 bearing. Has 1 7/16 bore with 3.1496 od. Listed as a medium series bearing for straight shaft mounting with spherical od.

I can't tell from pic if od is cylindrical or spherical. If od is flat across then the # is muoa 1 7/16" if it has a radius across then the # is muob 1 7/16". Check with any bearing supplier should be able to supply.

Hi TMiller/NC. I havn't found the bearing yet. only one side has an extended collar and the OD of the bearing is spereical and goes into a pilblock.
I did order a bearing from AGCO that I'm expecting any day now. I'm hoping its the right one. Otherwise, I'm out of luck. But, my fall back plan is to take a bearing that has an extended collar on both sides and turn down (remove) one of the extended collars.
I'll report back on this. Many thanks.

Hi all,
Thanks for all the information and help on this. I was never able to find this bearing by cross referencing the number on the bearing (FAFNIR RA108PPB2). I could never find a bearing with both the correct OD and ID. When I did find a bearing with the correct OD and ID, it had a double extended race so the race was too wide.
I was able to find the bearing, however, by using the Allis Chalmers part number (70540909) and ordered it through a AGCO store. I received the bearing and collar today.
Thanks again!!
