It would help if someone would post the size of the "rope" material used in front and rear crankshaf seals.  All suppliers I have talked to can only sell me a complete gasket set.  Tx.........O_O

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

Not yet. Could not find the correct Dean Ag on my searches. Going to call a couple of auto parts stores that have some "savvy" guys working there. May just buy a couple sizes, bring them home and see how it goes.  Been too busy to seriously pursue it.

I simply can't imagine anyone wanting to "cobble" together a rear crankshaft seal......as big of a job as it is, why wouldn't you want to spend the $$$ for the CORRECT SEAL !!!!

I just got some at the local, oil field supply store.
They pulled it off the roll, called it "Garland compression seal". It is available in different sizes.  I was sealing the WC's PTO output shaft and used 3/8"X6" and did it twice.

Not looking for a seal for an engine.   I need a seal for the gear box on an old trip plow.  Seems like all the local parts dealers are "out to lunch".
