I'm going to convert my d17 iv from the snap coupler to 3 point, I want to just build the conversion myself (I already have all the steel) but does anyone have some dimensions for the pieces? Mainly the tug arm length and the cross piece that mounts to the drawbar. Thanks

I don't think there is a "cross piece" on a series IV. Why not find a 170 parts tractor and have everything heavy duty factory?

I would love to find a factory 3 point but I can't justify spending $500 on a factory rear end and another $250 to ship it or spend a day driving 300 miles to get it, seems like no one in central Wisconsin sells anything if it's Allis Chalmers. Most would rather watch it rust away in the fence line and be able to say "I have one of those" than sell it to somebody who may actually use it. Don't get me wrong there are some great guys on this site willing to go out of their way but seems to be hard to find anything around central Wisconsin.

Didn't they say 170-185 all will work? When you get to be my age(did I say that?)you'll understand why it makes sense to do what it takes to get the real thing and be done with it. No offence intended.

Yep.  D17 IV, 170, 175, 180 and 185 are all basically the same and are pretty much a bolt on operation.  Your tractor will be worth more when you go to sell it too.

I can get you the dimensions, but not until next weekend as the D17 IV is 100 miles away and won't get out to see it until then. Let me know. I can get you pics also. 3 pt is standard on it.

Stan R, I would like the demotions and some close up pictures if your able. I found lots of Home built 3 point hitches by googleing D17 home made hitches. Problem is no demotions and no close up pictures.
