I have a 1953 WD45 and need to add oil to gears in clutch housing and can't find what type to use in it?  I didn't find a reference in my service manual for this one.

The Fill plug is in front of the clutch plate area and is NOT the same fill plug for the transmission or the Hydrolics. Any help is appreciated!

The "clutch plate area" [ engine main clutch assy] is a "DRY" compartment. Look your ser. man over again, if it is adecent one it will instruct on fluid levels/compartments,etc.

Here is a picture that shows the three fill holes.  As was mentioned, the engine clutch housing - orange in this picture is dry.  The frontmost fill hole is for the hydraulics.  The rear two fill a common area that has no seals separating it, there are bearings for the oil to flow through so it may be easier having two fill holes.  You can use Hy-Tran fluid for both the hydraulics and transmission/rearend that makes it easy.  HTH Tom

To be more correct not all the orange section of this picture is dry, the compartment directly in front of the torque tube gets hydraulic compartment oil flowing in it to lube the belt drive gear.  There is no place to add oil there though.

I wish I could say I had some progress to report but things have been busy and I haven't done too much on it yet.  I took the rims off my parts tractor and have them off to the powdercoater.  I plan on using them on the WD45 Diesel though.

Thanks all.  The Middle compartment is the one I was talking about where the hand clutch is.

Great picture to help out!
