Hey friends. I'm going to be getting an rc tomorrow. 1939. Engine is sized. My question is I'm giving him 500. Has good rear tires. Decent tin. Am I getting a good deal? I know there rare is there anyone on here that has a rc? Would love to see pictures of them restored or in there work clothes

You better believe you are getting a good deal. A B engine is fairly cheap to rebuild and a you will have a tractor is worth $1,500 or more. They only made 5500 of them, how many are left?

There over 7 RC's with in a hour driving from my place.. They are around .It's a rare to see one pop up at sales on regular basis . Right now $1500.oo running would be tops for one unless it was really nice and done over then it would be worth more pending on Buyers . Nice find ,good luck with your project.

I would consider it a good deal. Maybe you can free the engine with a little time and penetrating oil. Soak the cylinders and keep trying it for a couple of months. There was only about 5000 RC made I think, if I remember right, worth it to fix it up and parts , new and used are there for the engine if needed.

Posted By: ac89
Date Posted: 30 Apr 2016 at 9:38pm
Yeah I'm definitely fixing it up. Going to look closer at it this week to see if it's the original be engine or the ce.I'll probably put the ca motor I have in it for now to see how the drive train is. I checked the rear end and transmission and it appeared to be fine. No water. Couldn't get it to shift into 3rd and reverse at first but after a few minutes of trying it shifted in all gears.

Had my RC for about 5 years. Just tore it down for a resto. Have to finish the WF first. Frame rails and small parts for the RC are at the sandblaster right now and the engine is on the engine stand waiting to be torn down. Mine is a 39 also. Steve@B&B

I have one that was a basket case when I got it. I first had about 40HP CE engine in it and I'd thought it might do better pulling than what I'd been doing with the CA as the gear ratios looked to be suited better to the power I had at the time. Do to the power loss in all the straight cut gears it didn't do quite what I expected, even though it was a strong runner in the 2500 & 3000 classes. After that it got a retired pulling engine and became my Bale-Loader tractor. It does real nice for that with it's super slow low gear, it doesn't swamp you up on the wagon. It could also do well in the slow tractor races. It still currently has more power than a WC would have had for a 39 model.
I wish it was easier to get pictures on here. Some just seem to do it so easily while I just seem to get nothing. I have a few pictures of it pulling but I can't seem to find any so far with the bale loader on it. Mine has the PTO, belt pulley, electric starting and all the lights. I might sell mine
if someone was seriously interested, PM me.
------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

I guess it depends on where you are on price. I paid $1600 several years ago, thanks to someone on this site pointing it out. It was in Craig, Colo, about 200 miles west of me over the mountains. Includes a side mount sickle bar mower. Pretty good shape, I need to rebuild the carb for this year's Yesteryear Farm show in late August. A guy 10 miles away has an RC on steel, kind of a cool basic tractor. That and mine are the only ones around Colorado but I wouldn't be surprised if there are more lurking in sheds or fence lines. Neither are for sale at this time.

i'm a bit like paul....i have 2 rc's. one has a 3 7/16 oversize kit, that's the only thing that's been done to it. I pull it in 2500 and 3000. great balance and its hard to beat.

PaulB and others, The picture posting can be a challenge. I use a digital camera not a cell phone. Then down load the picture to a file on my computer. Resize the picture to 640 x 480. Then move the picture to Photobucket.com site. Now come to the forum start a post with both tabs open then click on the photobucket picture and copy and past the URL for it into the new post. Its easier to rebuild a starter on a WD. But after doing it several thousand times it seems OK. I am sure there may be easier way to get pictures up? And if you haven't done it there are a bunch of moves to make.
PS. How come the RC's have to be so cute! I think I could drive one of those too! Regards, Chris

RC blocks should start with "R" and end with the correct letter code to correspond to the fuel used.

Thank Paul for the correction! I thought it was somethin' with an "R". Took a look at mine again and the engine serial number is R3464G. The serial number of the Tractor is RC3458.

Thanks I'll be updating soon. Going to try pulling the motor this weekend if I can find the time. I'm thinking it's going to need sleeves and pistons. . Haven't checked the crank yet. The head needs to be rebuilt. I want to try to save all the original parts. At least try to. Thanks everyone for the interest in my rc. They're real scarce up here in Maine. Never thought I would own one.

just a tip for those of you guys restoring an RC, if your needing the special front rims with the big bolt pattern, the Massey Harris 101jr and the 30 and likely several others share that same rim. I picked up a set from a massey 30 for my 39' RC. Also the rear rim holding bolts are the same as a 44 and 101jr Massey and many more if guys are looking for them hope this helps
