| Hello all been awhile. Anyway I have a two row allis charmers 70 series planter. I have some issues. For starters my false rings are wore. Probably as much as 1/8 inch in some places. I used the planter for soybeans and it over populated with the correct tooth count sprocket. My false rings are metal with metal plates. I was curious to see if it is actually cast or steel. I was going to weld the rings up and grind them back smooth being as new rings are 94 a piece. My next question is about converting to plastic with Lincoln ag products. Not sure about price after I buy the conversion kit. My goal is strictly sunflowers. I have the sunflower plates but unsure on what sprockets for correct population and seed count. All help is very appreciated |

| they are cast. and do you have extra sprockets? if so you can change them around for the right or close to right seed placement! if you want to test it....jack up your planter, get you a bucket to sit on, grab a magic marker, put your seed in with the plates you wanna use, just a couple hand fulls will do, turn the drive wheel (packer wheel) slow and when the first seed drops out...mark your wheel, then turn until a next seed drops out and mark that spot, keep turning until you've gone all the way around at least once. then measure the distance between the marks, that will be the spacing of your seed. write it down with what sprockets you used and where and what plate #! now if you plant more beans, use a seec corn plate that has 24 cells for big round seed, that will cut down the amount of seed being planted, I had to do that one year when the seed beans were about BB size! and it worked well! also put a little oil on that cast plate before using. |

Soybeans were double in size when the first AC units were built. Get some beans from Lincoln Ag - The yellow soybean plates and follow above advice as to checking for spacing. The AC 70345435 or the plate ending ins 772 were the castor bean and the only plate that would come close to the chart. The wear may be some issue - but the plates are 90%...the problem if you are using the 70310772 Ac plate . ------------- When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money.. |

| Thanks for the replies but I'm doing sunflowers. I have several sprockets and the sunflower plates. New false rings are $93. Now then Lincoln ag told me they could sell me an adapter and use their plastic plates however I am unsure of if I need their filler ring and how it all goes with my planter. |

| Use 9 sprocket for seed and 14 for drive wheel to get 7.5" spacing. You need the filler ring for the Lincoln ag plates. Could you jb weld the false ring and sand smooth? I was actually going to order two false rings tomorrow, but at $93 each, I'll pass.. |

| I thought I put a description with the picture but I don't see it. That is the smallest soybean plate from Lincoln ag and as you can see almost 3 beans fill the cell. These are eagle soybeans from 2 years ago, hopefully they haven't gotten smaller. I filled my false ring with devcon metal patch and fill and it was easy to do and sand smooth. Hopefully this will help with doubles. |

| if you are using jd plates, all you need is the adapter that sets in the middle of the plate, Lincoln ag #MC4300. they are $20. each. if you are talking about the round cast ring that you hinge outta the way to change plates, someone on here should have good used ones they'll sell you a lot cheaper! |
