Working on a 220. I thought I was careful with all the parts. I have the front of the engine torn down, the clutch removed, and the front of the transmission off. Today after putting the front of the transmission together and putting the engine back in I found a snap ring in the parts pile that I have no idea what it's for. It is 1.25 id and 1.290 od. I forgot to measure the thickness but it's thick for a snap ring. It also has no paint on it but looks nice and new like it was in oil. Any ideas? This thing is driving me nuts! Thanks!

It sounds like the spacer ring between the two timpken bearings on the idler gear on the front .

That's what I think too. It is a round wire snap ring that has been machined on the sides making it a specific thickness. When you assemble that idler gear, it goes between the tapered bearings and the ends of it have to be positioned to allow oil to escape the stub shaft, which I think makes the opening down. Torque the bolt tight on that idler gear.
