this evening i was going past a neighbor's house in town who does custom baling, he uses AC equipment and has had a partially disassembled d17 sitting by his back garage for a long time. i never really paid attention to it until tonight when i noticed it had the same rear wheels that the wheatland had, and my heart nearly skipped a beat. my question is: are these rims unique to the wheatland, or did they use them on combines,etc. also? and, do you think farmers put these rims on regular d17s? i can't tell if this might be the real thing, might have to go have a chat with the guy sometime

Big fenders are more scarce than the wheels.

I'm restoring a D-17 Black Bar grill diesel grove tractor. I also had a Wheatland for a short time. The fenders on the grove tractor are the same as the Wheatland but the outside is closed in and the mounting is different. In the 1960 price book, the Wheatland was a complete package but the grove equipment (fenders, fender extensions, driver shield, and grill shield) were seperate items shipped FOB Owosso Michigian. On an earlier post someone replied that there was a company that specialized in Orchard equipment in Owosso. My guess that most grove fenders (including the D-17 Wheatland) were somewhat generic for all makes. the Wheatland rear wheels are unique because they are the standard 28" power shift center with plates that adapt the center to be welded into a 26" open center rim. This is different than any Gleaner combine rim. Ben J. has extra Wheatland parts.
