I have been chasing a surge in the idle on a 24 horse intek extended run engine in this mower. I have now loosened the governor arm and do not know which direction to turn the governor shaft to lock it down. I also do not know which direction to hold the throttle shaft as the throttle plates are not visable. I know when the throttle is move to the high idle it moves the lock lever down or clockwise. so the governor shaft should turn clockwise?  But which way should i hold the throttle saft? Down there is a stop molded on the carburetor, up there is an adjustable screw. Also on the Kohlers there was a spot to which the governor shaft would turn then a little spring pressure to overcome to get it to the all the way open position. This briggs seems to have no actual spring tension on the shaft? Should there be some or just turn till it stops no force? Thanks for any information in advance. PS this is my Fathers mower and i am livid with it and fear a tounge lashing if not figured out, haha no serious.
