Found a 920 Diesel with 1200 hours on it. Seems to check out fine and is in really well kept condition.  Any suggestions on what to look for and a price range?

I don't know the going rate, but there was one on craigslist for around $2500.

$2500 is the moon, unless you have all the essential options and attachments included with it.  Recently, these have been selling for $1200-1600, depending on condition.  I think that's a bit low for 7790/920's, but many have come up for sale this year.  When selling a really clean one, I hold out for $1700-1800.  When buying, I would not consider a super clean one for more than this, unless there was something unique about it, like power steering, ultra low serial #, Deutz-Allis variety, etc.  These are popular, but not hard to find, and issues with the engine can make them too costly to repair.

Make sure she starts easy, runs with little to no smoke and drives nice with no lag in the hydro.  Creep is fine, as it can be adjusted out.  Parts for everything except the engine are a dime/dozen.  If the tractor is well kept, chances are the engine is too.  I wouldn't worry about hours under 2K...the tractor will wear out before the motor.

I've never had a problem getting anything for the Lombardini diesel engine.

Not sure what a 920D goes for but you can't touch a 620 or 720 around here for less than $2,000.
