Anybody ever see this before? There's a styled WC not too far from my house sitting in a fence row, and somebody welded leaf springs above the wheels on the front axle. It's quite an interesting setup, haha! Wish I had a picture but maybe I'll load one on here when I'm home over the summer.

It's not on my property. I've been meaning to talk to the owner but I'm not even sure he realizes that any of the equipment is there! It would be one heck of a project, that's for sure...

Several years ago I went to look at a U near Leavenworth, KS I think and in the shed the guy had, if I remember right, an unstyled WC that a local had welded two leaf springs and a truck axel to make it a wide front supposedly because his wife said it was too hard to steer and she wan't going to drive it until he did something about it.

I was wondering if they did it to smooth out the ride a little, over grass clumps and such. It's next to some old hay pastures up on a ridge.

Who knows why they put it on there, there probably isn't any way to find out who was the farmer that used it. It's intriguing though.

I've seen pics of a model U industrial with a leaf spring in the ft axle. Never seen anything in real life though.
