I have my eye on a NH 469 mower/conditioner - that has a 9 ft bar. It is in decent shape and the price is good, but...

I have an original D17 with only single action hydraulics. It seems like a lot of machine for the tractor. And, I've never used anything but the lift arms with 3 pt adapter for my sickle mower, shredder, blade, etc.

I assume I can get a single action cylinder to lift the cutter head. Surely that's how the hydraulics work, isn't it?

Do I have enough horsepower to lift it? How about to run the mo/co?

The tractor will run it no problem, however the low volume hydrualic pump will take forever to lift the stock cylinder. If you find an AC cylinder that operates on low volume/high pressure hydraulics, you shouldn't have any problems.

Ran a 9' New Idea in the past and our 1209 9' JD haybine last summer with the D17 & had no problems...Harvey

P.S. had to throttle back so I didn't knock that JD fine!

Ran a Ford 535 haybine with a series one D15 for years. Great setup. the D15 has good power for it and the power steering was next to none

I have run a 9' new holland 488 haybine with a D-14 in fescue in pasture fields. It has the single hyd. outlet and lifted the mower fine. The thicker spots really worked the D-14 but did the job. I stayed off the steeper parts and let the dew dry off. The D-17 will be heavy enough the haybine won't bully it around.
