I took the back blade off the 45 and put the finish mower on yesterday. Raised it up, now it won't come back down. Messed with settings, but to no avail. What is my next option? I'm not to smart on hydralic functions. Any help would be appreciated.

Fred, with tractor not running, put your hyd. lever all the way down, and screw the screw on the front of the pump all the way out and back in a couple times. Book calls this the volume screw, or screw "D". Make sure to stay clear of the lift and implement.

Fred make sure that screw "A" is turned into the little divet on the body of the pump. I had the same problem. Mine was off just a tad. Mike

Tried Randy and Mike's suggestions and the arms still wii not come down. What do I do next? Try disconnecting the hose from the pump or cyclinder and maybe getting an oil bath or what? Could pump have gone bad? Help!!!! Not good on hydralic systems. Concrete yes, hydralics no. Thanks, Fred

Here is a thing or two you can try. The hold position( the valve that the hoses go into on top of the pump) valve linkage rod may have come loose or is out of adjustment, the control valve is sticking or the valve poppet has trash in it. I'd look at the linkages first them look at the valve in side. Screw the adjusting screw in and out two or three times too.

I had the same thing happen to my CA a couple yrs ago. System was stuck tight at 3500lbs as I keep a gauge plumbed in at all times. It held tight for 2wks with the plow on it up in the air. Finally one day it gave up and worked fine afterwards. I know my pump picked up some FOD out of the tranny as I've got a bad bearing making metal. Bet yours is too. Nothing I could do other than loosen a hose to relieve pressure would work. Good luck!

Fred Here is everthing I did when I had the same problem. I flushed the system with diesel fuel to clean it out, then fill it with hydraulic oil drain it and fill it again with hydraulic oil. There are two drain plugs. As Don said check the linkages. You should be able to tell where they were set if they loosened. I understand they are hard to adjust so if it worked before it should work with the same adjustment. And I did turn screw c in and out a few times to help free the valve if it was stuck. I would loosen a hose to take off the pressure. I thought my pump was bad also. It would help to have a manual for your tractor also. Hope this helps. Mike

I'll try those things today. Got some pretty good thunder storms going on right now. I can't think the pump is bad either. It was working great before I changed to the mower. Thanks for all the help. This forum is the best place for AC info or help. Fred

Since you had a blade on it, you might check if your cylinders are bound against the bottom of the final drives. When I got my WD the previous owner had gotten it hung up on the blade and popped the snap rings off the ends of the cylinders allowing them to extend to far and bind. I had to hook a chain to the back of the blade to get it to come down if I let the arms top out.

I have seen where the plunger, that unseats the ball check in the hold position valve, has the head broken off so the ball can not be unseated and won't release the pressure. The other thing I run across frequently is the internal rack of valves are froze in the rack of sleeves by debris.
Usually the debris is from the disintegrated spring washer that is supposed to keep the rack of sleeves from chattering. Sometimes screwing the adjusting screw, on the front of the pump, in and out a time or two will loosen the rack of valves if they are the ones that are stuck.

Fred, Just remember that if necessary you can rebuilt the pump. While they look daunting I did it so I know you can.
Just get a manual and a basin of diesel oil to keep the parts. Perhaps before you start a rebuild kit would be helpful.
I realize this would be a last resort but just remember it is very possible.
Before you take this aciton listen closely to above suggestions. They are good sound suggestions.
